Guidelines for Submission to Constellations - An International Journal of Critical and Democratic Theory

Constellations has now adopted ScholarOne Manuscripts, for online manuscript submission and peer review. The new system brings with it a whole host of benefits including:

- Quick and easy submission
- Administration centralised and reduced
- Significant decrease in peer review times

From now on all submissions to the journal must be submitted online at http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/constellations. Full instructions and support are available on the site and a user ID and password can be obtained on the first visit. If you require assistance then click the Get Help Now link which appears at the top right of every ScholarOne Manuscripts page. If you cannot submit online, please contact the Submissions Coordinators, Kate Jackson (kvjack1@gmail.com) or Sara Gebh (gebhs204@newschool.edu) in the Editorial Office.

Article LengthArticles published in constellations are normally not longer than 9,000 words excluding notes, or 10,000 words including notes. Longer articles can be considered only under exceptional circumstances. The Co-Editors reserve the right to reject without review manuscripts that are longer than the stated word limit.

Reference Style

PLEASE NOTE THAT CONSTELLATIONS HAS RECENTLY CHANGED ITS REFERENCE STYLE FROM CHICAGO TO APA

References should be prepared according to the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (6th edition). This means in text citations should follow the author-date method whereby the author's last name and the year of publication for the source should appear in the text, for example, (Jones, 1998). The complete reference list should appear alphabetically by name at the end of the paper.

A sample of the most common entries in reference lists appears below. Please note that a DOI should be provided for all references where available. For more information about APA referencing style, please refer to the APA FAQ. Please note that for journal articles, issue numbers are not included unless each issue in the volume begins with page one.
Use of et al. is determined by the number of authors and whether it is the first time a reference has been cited in the paper. Specifically, articles with one or two authors include all names in every in-text citation; articles with three, four, or five authors include all names in the first in-text citation but are abbreviated to the first author name plus et al. upon subsequent citations; and articles with six or more authors are abbreviated to the first author name plus et al. for all in-text citations.
